Should Muchasen Mother ("Eileen") who Killed THREE babies Be Forcibly Sterilized

One of the things I love about Law and Order are the debates that the lawyers find themselves in. Eileen has a compulsion. She kills her babies for sympathy. While she initially got a mistrial, Jack was gung ho to add a provision that she undergo tubal ligation to prevent further pregnancies in exchange for a more favorable plea, Clair was morally opposed and says he has lost his way. Adam and the judge were legally opposed. Thankfully, it was her husband who decided to stop her, confessing that he saw her standing over the baby with a pillow around the time of baby's death 💔.

I keep coming back to this episode. I wonder🤔: if the husband hadn't had a change of heart, was Jack right?
