What was your literary journey like?

Always been curious about how people come to form their ideas and opinions. The posters on this sub seem articulate and well read, so I wonder how did yall get to this point? Did you start by reading Harry Potter? Lit assigned in high school? Or have you always been into more esoteric stuff? Did you scour through top 100 lists? Develop your ideas through academia? Self taught?
