how to format chapters switching POVs?

so, this is mostly an opinion-based question, I think. But how would someone format chapters that switch POVs every chapter? Should every chapter be a different POV? Does it have to be a pattern? Should it go in order? What if it's a character's POV for three chapters, then we don't hear from them again until five chapters later?
Not really asking how to write, since I'm not planning on changing how I've formatted my book, since I like it that way, but uh yeah. Just curious to see others' opinions on this

edit: the POV's for each chapter (in my book) do have to do with the plot/add to the plot; I'm not just picking randomly :))
