How do Coogan/Gibbons bros etc. 'end' Partridge when the time comes?

It's a strange one. Coogan is 60 this year and obviously still enjoys playing Alan Partridge. Alan as a character turns 70 soon.

I actually think the Gibbons brothers have given us the best of Partridge IMO. The writing in Mid Morning Matters/This Time/Oasthouse and the specials have, I think, the funniest writing for the character. It's a lot more nuanced than say IAP or KMKY but when I watch all of them back, I find myself laughing aloud A LOT more at the later stuff, probably with the exception of Alpha Papa.

What do we see Alan's swan song as? Him not being present in a single sitcom/show that goes from season-to-season definitely works in terms of keeping the character fresh. Just curious to think how it'll play out for an intended end to the character or if they'll eventually just stop doing Partridge stuff and that'll be that.
